'Caraline' | Fundraising

A report from Harry Kline

A lot of effort went into obtaining funds during the year 2002, not only from Health authorities but also from events arranged privately. Proceeds from privately-arranged fundraising events became increasingly important in mitigating the effects of reduced funding from Health Authorities.

Amounts received from privately-arranged fundraising events in the past year included:

• £4,000-00 (Dinner-Dance),
• £2,000-00 (Gentleman’s Evening).
• £600-00 (Golf Day).

Welcome as these contributions are, they are no substitute for regular income derived from Health Authorities and Health Care Trusts.

Consequently, every effort is being made to persuade Health Authorities to support the work of Caraline on a regular, service-contract basis.

For the foreseeable future, however, privately arranged fundraising events will continue to make a necessary contribution to funds. As this is the case, Caraline is seeking an enthusiastic person to co-ordinate private fundraising activities.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their efforts in raising money for Caraline, however small the amount.

Harry Kline,
Chairman and Trustee

W A N T E D: Fundraisers

One of the biggest problems we have at ‘Caraline’ is that not enough people get involved in helping to organise and run fundraising events. We miss out a great deal because of staffing resources-there’s simply not enough time to do everything.

We are looking for a group of volunteers who will run a sub committee for fundraising. This group will report to the trustees on a monthly basis to inform them about plans and events that are being planned.

The people we need would not only have an interest in helping ‘Caraline’ raise money, but also be enthusiastic, have good ideas and be prepared to put these ideas into action.

Bounty from Barclays

A Big big thank you to Yvonne, Jackie and the gang from the George Street branch of Barclays Bank who have been so amazingly supportive in organising fund raising events.

Last July 2002 they held a car boot sale and raised £400 for Caraline. This year the girls are coming into Caraline on the 22nd of March and are going to paint our counselling rooms and good old Bob is going to put up some shelves for us.

Also the Barclays gang have organised a sponsored walk on April 26th next, again to raise money for Caraline.

On behalf of everyone involved in Caraline, we wish to thank you for your dedication and wish you luck in the coming events.
